North Devon Council is carrying out a consultation on plans to extend the 3 year Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) at Ilfracombe Harbour, following on from the success of the Order which was put into place on 1 April 2023 for a period of three years.
Because a number of licensed boat trip providers operate from Ilfracombe Harbour and in the busy summer months, ticket sales can become competitive, a PSPO was introduced to control ticket touting and give a more balanced opportunity for boat trip providers to secure customers.
As previously, the proposed PSPO will restrict the soliciting of services at Ilfracombe Harbour by word of mouth, handing out leaflets or other means, unless under the express terms of a licence or the written permission of the Harbourmaster.
The Draft Public Spaces Protection Order and map of the area it covers can be found in the documents tab.
The consultation will run between Thursday 15th January 2026 and Thursday 26th February 2026 10:00 am.
Next Steps
The final recommendations will be considered by the Strategy and Resources Committee on the 2nd March 2026.
